Prom Dress of the Week - Tony Bowls "Wild at Heart"

This week's Prom dress has everything you could want in a gown - sparkle, glamour and that WOW factor!

From Tony Bowls Evenings, this delightful taffeta dress starts with a sparkly sweetheart neckline that falls into a ruched and pleated criss-cross bodice.

The waist is made small by the pleating and on the hip are a couple flowers to add interest.

The front of the dress is gathered up to above the knee, where the back falls to an elegant train.

Underneath the sparkle and the train is a funky leopard print that adds a twist to this dress.

This was worn by a contestant on last year's American Idol in cranberry. The dress comes in light pink (as shown), cranberry, blue, brown, green and emerald all with the leopard under-skirt. It comes in white with a black under-skirt.

This dress is available to try on at Paper Doll Formals, and as always we will not sell it to more than one person in each graduating class, not even in a different colour! Come in soon to get this dress before anyone else can take it. The matching shawl (not shown) can be worn or made into a matching tie and pocket square for a small fee by our seamstress.

Dress of the Week - Jasmine "Delicate Sparkle"

This week's dress is a lovely gown with subtle accents all over.

In soft satin taffeta and lux organza, this dress starts with a ruched sweetheart neckline and bodice that gathers along the front with delicate flowers, feathers and sparkle detail.

The sheath dress is form-fitting to the knee and ends in an elegant drape to the floor.

The back is very sexy, as it is a low v-back with the ruching to the waist.

The train starts with a delicate beaded detail and two lines of ruffles flow out from it and create a wavy court-length train that is perfect for an outdoor or informal ceremony.

The inside of this dress helps to keep it to your body perfectly as there's an internal corset. This helps you save money as you don't need to purchase a separate foundation garment.

This beautiful dress is in store at Paper Doll Formals and is very affordable. It can come in any size from 0 to 34, and in white or ivory (shown).

Dress of the Week - Modeca's Madeline

This week's dress is elegant and understated.

Made by Modeca, this line is part of the family of popular Enzoani dresses.

Madeline starts with a removable shrug. The shrug is made of lace with delicate beading and sparkles throughout. The lace matches the top of the dress, with just a little bit of it peeking over the top of the envelope neckline.

The dress is made of ravello taffeta, a matte taffeta that holds its shape very well, and is soft like silk.

The bodice is ruched through to the hip, giving a lovely shape to the bride.

The interior is held tight to the body with an internal waist band, making it a snug fit.

The dress is form-fitting to the hip where it then flows out to a lovely drop-waist ball gown sillhouette. The ruched skirt flows
over a tulle under-skirt that adds a bit of flare to the gown. The small chapel-length train makes this gown perfect for an indoor or outdoor wedding ceremony. The back is a zipper, with cloth buttons all the way up on the outside, each one attached with a small piece of elastic.

Worn with or without the shrug, Madeline is a lovely dress and is available at Paper Doll Formals for less than you might expect. Madeline comes in pale ivory and white.

Other dresses in the Enzoani family are Enzoani, Blue, and Love. Paper Doll Formals also carries Love for bridesmaids, prom, cocktail, and mothers.

Come in soon to try on Madeline and her friends in the Modeca collection of gowns.

Tuxedo Trials

In 90% of weddings, at least one person in the wedding party will be wearing a tux or a suit. Or even parts thereof. One thing we've noticed at Paper Doll Formals is the many variations there are, and it's really interesting to help a bride bring her wedding vision together by adding in the right touch for her groom.

We get asked many of the same questions over and over, so here's our top 10 Q&A.

1. How long does it take to get in what I want? The usual timing is 8 weeks. The reason for this is because the companies we order from (Mallabar and Derks) often have many of their suits going out the on the same weekend, and if your wedding is the same weekend as a Grad or Prom, then you might not get the first choice you want. We suggest strongly that you come in at least 3 months prior to the wedding to choose your suit or tuxedo in order to get the one you want.

2. Do I have to pay the whole thing before it gets ordered? No. At Paper Doll, we will accept anywhere from $50 to 50% and we'll order the outfit. It must be paid for in full before you can take it out of the store, though.

3. When will it arrive? How will I know it's in? We have found that Mallabar sends their tuxedos to arrive at least a full week before the date. Derks' items often arrive the Monday prior to the event. Once they come in we check them over to make sure it's what you ordered, and then we call the groom and other members of the party. It's very VERY important to come in as soon as possible to try on the tux to make sure it fits, that the colour is what you ordered, etc. Mallabar ships from Winnipeg and it often takes 5 days for replacements. Derks ships from Edmonton, and most times items can arrive in 2 days. Sometimes it doesn't.

4. What if it doesn't fit? It depends on the problem. Often we will go back to the company and ask for a replacement. If it's something they can't fix for whatever reason, we have a seamstress who can do minor changes on hems and cuffs. We do our best to fix the problem for you.

5. What does the basic price include? Most charges are for the jacket, the pants, a shirt, cuff links, suspenders, a tie and vest. Shoes, pocket squares, some styles of pant, and microfibre shirts are all extra charges. EVERYONE pays the damage waiver. This small fee ensures that if there's a stain or a rip that you're not responsible for repair.

6. When do we have to return our tuxes? All tuxes must be returned to Paper Doll Formals the next business day. We then return them to the company once they're back. If they're more than a day late, we're charged a $20/day late fee which we then pass onto the customer.

7. Do I get any money back? No, sorry. If the item is in the store, you're obliged to pay for it in full, even if you don't wear it, as we're charged for it by the compan y. If you can give us enough notice, we can get the company not to ship, however we don't issue refunds in the store. We can however, give store credit to you.

8. We just want a shirt and a vest. Is that doable? Yes, totally! But it might not be your best cost-effective option. It's in your best interest to order the whole suit (the least expensive option), and then just not wear it. A shirt, vest and tie combo often costs as much as a whole suit or tux because of shipping costs.

9. Do you have ring bearer suits too? Yes, our companies have certain styles that are available in smaller sizes. The prices are the same as for the full sized models. Derks offers, "Little Nippers" for babies and toddlers. They are only for purchase, however if you find the suit is still in good repair after the event, Paper Doll Formals will offer to purchase the suit from you for 1/2 the cost.

10. What prices do your tuxes start at? Is a suit cheaper? Our tuxes start at $90. The suits start at $110.
