Facebook strikes again

Well, I had no problems posting links to our DotW for over a year now, but Facebook has decided that Blogspot.ca is spam and won't accept the link anymore.

So, if you'd like to see what our Dress of the Week is, please go to our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/paper.doll.formals and read up, follow the links, etc.

We also do a lot of our promotions on the page, so if you're not a fan yet, now would be a good time as I often get bored and will put on surprise sales on the Facebook page.

Thanks for reading the posts so far. Hope to see you around Facebook!

The third dress is a lovely criss-cross pleated taffeta dress with a straight-across neckline and a tulip skirt, held with a floral detail a the waist.

Every one of these gorgeous dresses would be amazing in a bridal party or AT a party in a nightclub! These are multi-use dresses for sure, and won't be hanging in the back of anyone's closet after the wedding.

Come in to try on dress one and three. They are available in over 20 colours. They usually take around 12 weeks to come in and will most likely need alterations in the bust and waist (depending on measurements).

Dress of the Week - Destiny's Pockets!

This week's dress is full of surprises.

From Impression Bridal's Destiny collection, this lovely taffeta dress starts with a sweetheart neckline and pleated bust.

The ballgown skirt has plenty of room to add a crinoline underneath, or leave it as it comes with an elegant drape.

The sparkle belt at the waist is a nice addition as it can be switched out for more bling.

But the best part about this dress is the pockets! The popper snaps keep them closed and flat when not in use, but they're there when you need them for tissues, keys, or anything small.
This is an awesome summer dress, perfect for an outdoor wedding or informal gathering, with just the right amount of elegance for a smaller indoor event too.

The price is very budget conscious, so if you think this might be your gown, swing in to try it on today. It's available in white and ivory and is currently in the store in an ivory size 20.

Dress of the Week: 2Be Classic Fit

This week's dress is a classic dress from Kathy Ireland's 2Be collection.

This lovely strapless dress comes with removable halter straps for women who want a little bit more support, even though you may not need it, as the typical fit for 2Be is superior due to the construction of the gown.

The top is a sweetheart neckline with asymmetrical sides, flat pleated with crystals coming from the side, adding just a bit of sparkle throughout the bodice.

The skirt is listed as a modified mermaid, which just means it's form-fitting, but not down to the knee with a flare, rather it hugs your curves subtly allowing a bit more room at the bottom for ease of movement.

It has a chapel-length train that is easily bustled, and the gown looks great on many body shapes. The dress is available in two sizes in ivory and white in the store, and comes in sizes from 2 to 30 from the manufacturer.

Swing in to try this lovely, classic gown on to see if it's the one for you.

Dress of the Week: Destiny's Last Chance!

This week is one more Destiny by Impression dress. It's going out of production at the end of this month!

This gorgeous sheath dress is class from top to bottom! This dress is perfect for the outdoor wedding, or informal gathering, but still adds a lot of elegance and timelessness.

The straps form into a deep vee at the bust, and the dress then hugs your curves to a delicately scalloped hem at the floor, forming a very small circular train.

At the waist are loops to hold the belt that comes with the dress, or could fit something more sparkly, to add that bit of bling.

This lace has no sparkles, just intricate detailing throughout the whole gown.

The gown can no longer be ordered past May 1st, so if you are looking for classic lace in a classic shape, yet providing support with straps, this might be your dress!

Come in to try our sample, or, if you love it and it fits you, walk out the door with it! You'll find it's very affordable for such quality.

Bridesmaid Dress of the Month: JS Boutique "De-Light-Ful"

This month's bridesmaid dress is a spectacular printed gown from JS Group's Boutique Collection.

Shown here in a lovely red colour, this gown also comes in light blue and darker blue choices, as well as a lovely floral print.

The sweetheart neckline is pleated and criss-crossed across the bust, with more ruching around the waist. This gives an amazing shape to all bodies, snugging in the waist, and enhancing the bust.

The gown then falls naturally to the floor, in a light chiffon. There is a built-in edge around the bust and back to help the dress stay snug to your body without fear of it falling, but it also comes with spaghetti straps, for that extra bit of peace of mind.

Honestly, the hanger the dress comes on is heavier than the dress itself! It's so light and flowy. It would nicely for any kind of outdoor wedding ceremony, and suits the majority of body styles.

The dress comes in sizes from 2-16, but may be available in larger sizes depending on availability from the manufacturer.

Paper Doll has this dress in the light blue and dark blue fabrics. Come in with your bridesmaids to see if this dress will make your wedding party stand out.

Dress of the Week: Impression Destiny "Lovely Lace"

This week's dress has it all, in a small package!

Covered in lace, this lovely dress has a slight sweetheart neckline and a belt at the waist with a small floral detail on the hip.

The a-line skirt is edged in scalloped lace, and then some cute tulle peeks out from underneath.

Perfect for outdoor weddings, second weddings, or a reception dress, this is the one you're looking for if you want to let some fun show through.

It's available in the store in white and ivory so you can determine exactly which one is perfect for you!

Dress of the Week - Impression Destiny "Sparkle & Shine"

This week's dress is a winner from top to bottom!

A light satin sheath dress, the top is a straight neckline with ruching and pleating along the bodice to the hip on an angle.

Throughout the pleats are sparkles of beads, that don't overpower, but enhance the look.

The gathers on the waist go around to the back zipper, and create a lovely long-torso look, as well as enhancing your natural waist.

The skirt then falls gracefully to the floor, ending in a small train, perfect for outdoors.

As the skirt is not embellished, you can easily add buttons down the back seam, or beads and sparkle to the bottom hem (once it's been hemmed to your length!) by a qualified seamstress.

As the fabric is a light satin, it's perfect for outdoor weddings or summer time ceremonies. The satin sparkles and catches the light too, adding that bit of shine to the whole dress.

This is at a very affordable price point too! If your budget is under $500, you'll be able to get this dress, in white or ivory!

We have only one of these dresses left in stock - the other one was sold within a day of it's arrival - so come in soon to try it on and see if it's the one for you and your special day.

Dress of the Week - Jasmine's "Always a Bridesmaid..."

But this time, a bride!! This week we see how a bridesmaid dress can make a perfect informal wedding dress.

This first dress from Jasmine's B2 line, comes in many different colours. We have it here in white - delicate lace on top with a satin skirt. It can come knee-length or floor-length, in sizes from 0 to 32. With no train, it's a great dress for an informal or second wedding, at a great price!

As with all Jasmine gowns, you know you're going to get a good quality dress at a good price!

What if you want some bling? Our second choice has a bit of sparkle on the bow at the waist, and is available in your choice of tea-length, knee-length, or floor-length up to size 34!

You'll notice all these dresses have supporting straps for the woman who feels more comfortable with a little something on the shoulders.

Our third dress shows a light ivory gown from the Belsoie line. A sweet chiffon dress with straps and flattering ruching, this gown can come tea-length or floor-length and is a lovely option for the lady who wants to wear her dress on her honeymoon cruise for a formal night!

We have many other dresses in the store in white and ivory, that make great wedding dresses for under $300! A bridesmaid dress is a great option for those with smaller budgets, but who still want to wear a 'wedding' dress instead of a 'pretty' dress.

Come in to Paper Doll and we'll give you a lot of options you might not have thought about before!

Dress of the Week - 2Be "Beaded Beauty"

This week's dress is by Kathy Ireland's 2Be.

A lovely strapless chiffon mermaid gown, it has a soft sweetheart neckline and a fitted waist showing off a satin ribbon belt with a beaded flower to the side.

The dress is covered with delicate hand beading from top to bottom, which forms in a chevron pattern.

The chapel length train is great for indoor weddings, and if you'd like to wear this out doors, please make sure the grass is perfectly manicured or there's a carpet, because you don't want to snag a bead on this dress!

There are detachable halter or spaghetti straps included and the gown is available in white or ivory.

It comes from size 2 to 22 in regular prices, and up to 32 for slightly more.

It's light, a lovely, but definitely not meant to be worn repeatedly prior to the wedding day as the beads can drop off easily. We have this gown in white and ivory in the store for you to try on. It's a spectacular gown that must be tried on to be believed.

This month's bridesmaid dress doesn't look like much... until it's worn!

From Forever Yours' bridesmaid collection, this lamore satin strapped dress has a scoop neck and vertical pleats over the bust.

The waist and remainder of the dress is all horizontal pleating, which flatters every figure!

The pleats add curves to women who need some, and flatters the curves some women already have.

The dress is available in knee length or floor length, and comes in 75 different colours!

It's in the store in a deep eggplant purple for you to try on.

Swing in to check it out. You may be surprised how flattering this dress looks.

Dress of the Week - 2Be Elegance

This week's dress is simply elegant.

From Kathy Ireland 2Be Bridal, this strapless organza and satin modified mermaid gown starts with a sweetheart neckline, pleating into a directionally ruched crisscross satin bodice with asymmetrically dropped waistline. It hugs all the right curves, giving a fantastic shape.

The internal craftsmanship is the usual quality you'd expect from Kathy Ireland and Mon Cheri. First, there's boning from the bust to the hip inside, supporting you and ensuring a firm fit. Then there's a belt that goes around your waist, to hold the dress securely. Third, they've included a corset with a v-back, echoing the back of the dress. Together, these three elements make sure you don't need to purchase a separate corset or bustier.

The pleating and ruching wraps around the back too, and the zipper has a hook and eye about half-way up, to hold it flat against you, ensuring no puckering.

There's organza over a satin skirt with a chapel length train. A great length for that summer outdoor wedding. It's light and airy-looking and the organza shimmers in the light.

The dress comes with detachable spaghetti and halter straps.

The dress is also available with a floweret accented skirt in case you wanted a bit more pizzaz.

Available in sizes from 0 to 20, and then in woman's sizes from 18W - 32W, and in white or ivory. We have this dress in white AND ivory in the store, in size 12 and 20W! The price point will be a pleasant surprise for all the quality and workmanship you receive.

Come in to see if this dress is the one for you.

We're at our new spot now - Schoolhouse Square, between Furniture One and the Farm Market.

Dress of the Week - Fashion Show!!

Our dresses this week are featured from past fashion shows. These are two dresses we LOVE and are popular ones in the store.

This first lovely dress, modeled by Lindsey, is a J'aime dress. It's a fitted a-line with a chiffon sweetheart pleated bust, and it falls with lace to the floor. The scalloped lace edge flows out in a chapel train behind, and it has a zipper back with some buttons up the zipper with an internal belt. The lace is embroidered with silver threads and has sparkles throughout that catches the light as you move.

The second dress is also a J'aime and is worn by the gorgeous Bianca. Another fitted a-line, this dress is a satin underlay and pleated sweetheart bust with floral details in the middle. The lace over top is a delicate net covered in small 3-d flowers and em-broid-ered in gold thread. The chapel train flows behind, and there's a belt on the inside to help hold it to your body. The zipper back has buttons over top to add time-less-ness to the look.

We are lucky enough to have two lines of dresses in the store that you will not find any-where else!

J'aime is one, with three more dresses in the collection besides these two. There's another lace a-line dress with a satin belt under the bust, a satin drop-waist ball gown with a lace-up back, and an all-over lace sheath with lace shoulders and an open back. They're stunning and must be seen to be believed.

The second line we carry is Carrafina. Carrafina was strictly an American line until we begged to carry her designs here. She agreed and we've been overjoyed at the detail, the quality, and the styles.

We have named her Signature dresses after 'real' princesses, so you'll find Helena, Guinevere, Niobe and Rhiannon to try on. They are in ballgown, sheath, a-line and empire cuts, with sparkle and internal details to keep the dresses fitted perfectly. They all have buttons over the back zips for that classic look.

Her Carried Away line for destination weddings are the perfect option for the informal ceremony. We have named these dresses Kuai, Domenica, La Vega, and Riviera. In empire, sheath, and a-line cuts, these dresses are excellently suited for a beach wedding, an outdoor ceremony, or even a comfortable reception dress.

Because both these lines are private, you won't find their photos online to check out. This means the prices are kept lower and the dresses can't be copied by pirates for inferior knock-offs. You'll get great quality for a great price with any dress in these two lines. Come in and see these amazing dresses for yourself.

The middle dress is a lovely satin strapless dress (spaghetti straps included) with a sweetheart neckline and pleated bust. The flower is at the waist and has a swinging a-line skirt. This dress is in Eggplant in the store.

The third dress is a lovely shiny taffeta with a deep pleated sweetheart neckline and a pencil skirt. The belt ads depth to the waist, and is very flattering to most figure types. We have this dress in Indigo with a Cornflower coloured belt.

Dress of the Week: Jasmine "Best of All Worlds"

This week's dress gives the shape of a sheath dress with the poof of a ball gown. With or without the belt, this is an amazing dress.

From Jasmine Bridal's spring Collection of dresses, the sweetheart neckline has pleating, which falls in one direction to the waist, then switches direction down the hips.

Just below the hips, the drop-waist ball gown flares out in a slight poof adding texture and shape to the front and sides, and then falls to the floor in elegant pleats.

The back of the dress is Jasmine's typical elegance - a deep-v back with buttons over the zipper. The internal corset eliminates the need for a bustier and gives an awesome fit.

The tiffany train is elegant and flows behind as you walk down the aisle. It's easy to bustle to the bottom of the zipper too, which gives a lovely look during the reception.

The dress is in luminous taffeta. It picks up the light to shimmer as you move, and the belt is available in over 30 colours!

This gown is available in ivory or white, in sizes 0 to 34! We have this lovely dress in white in store now for you to try on and see how figure-flattering it is.

Dress of the Week - JS Group "Informal Lace"

This dress doesn't look like much on the hanger, but on a person, it looks very elegant!

Perfect for an informal or outdoor wedding, the v-neck is very flattering on women who want a bit of support. The back is also a v, but not a deep plunging one.

The delicate lace is all over the bodice and then just at the hip, is alternating with laser bands of satin.

Around the knee, the bands of satin take over, and this lends itself to easy hemming - to floor, calf or knee-length if so desired.

A zipper back makes this a comfortable dress to wear through your busy day, and it comes in a pretty ivory colour.

This and many other informal dresses are available in store. Come see them soon!

Dress of the Week - Modeca's "Martina"

This week's dress is understated elegance from top to bottom.

Martina is a lovely cameo satin sheath dress in white or light ivory.

The sweetheart neckline has embroidery and beads along the top.

Then a figure-hugging sheath falls to the knee, where it flares out in a classic fit-and-flare shape.

The back, as with all Modeca dresses, has buttons over the zipper, and there's a seam where the train falls in delicate pleats to the chapel length train.

The inside has a corset to hold the dress snugly and perfectly to your body.

This is quality from top to bottom, inside and out. Come in to see if Martina will win your heart too!

Prom Dress of the Week - Purple Heaven

This week's dress is pretty awesome off the hanger.

From JS Group, this gorgeous purple dress is flattering to many body types.

The strapless neckline is pleated, as is the bodice, but by the time it hits the hip, it starts to show a little more in between the pleats and it turns into a tiered dress.

The black sash adds a bit of interest and can easily be switched out for a sparkly belt or sash to liven up the dress.

A classic sheath (or mermaid) shape, the dress flares out a little at the bottom with just a bit of crinoline to add shape. By the bottom of the dress, there's a peek-a-boo effect between the tiers and it adds more interest to the bottom.

Available only in purple, the colour is a deep eggplant shade which is very flattering on most skin tones.

While it doesn't look like much on the hanger, it looks amazing on a woman. And the price tag is quite reasonable for a long, well constructed gown.

Come in to get this dress before anyone else does. We guarantee we won't sell the same dress to the same school - not even in a different colour!

Dress of the Week - Jasmine "Details"

This amazing dress says it all... it's all in the details!

From Jasmine's Spring 2012 collection, this lovely Italian Satin a-line dress starts with something original - a halter! Often brides like the look of a strapless dress, but fear they may end up pulling the dress up (which happens only if the dress isn't fitted to you properly). If you're concerned, then the halter straps will help keep the dress where it's supposed to be and you won't have to worry on your special day.

The strap is attached, but can easily be taken off by a qualified seamstress. The bodice is criss-cross pleating, giving a lovely sweetheart neckline that flatters many different body styles.

The ruched bodice has a lovely detail at the waist. The flowers and beads are available in ivory, misty pink (shown), and white.

The skirt then has delicate pleats and folds under this detail, and then it falls to a tiffany-length train.

The back is also pleated, and plunges low! The folds and pleats from the front are echoed on the back, and makes for a really cool looking bustle when it's done.

Of course, inside is Jasmine's typical corset to help fit the dress to your body perfectly.

The dress comes in ivory and white and we have this dress in white with misty pink accents in the store! It's a lovely gown that would look amazing on anyone who suits an a-line or ball-gown silhouette.

Prom Dress of the Week - Fit For a Princess

This week's dress is from Mary's Bridal.

Bright sparkling beads along the bust start this delightful a-line gown off.

The ruched bodice gives an amazing figure all the way past the waist to the hip.

The back of this dress is a half zip/half lace-back.

The skirt is full of pickups, but the crinoline isn't as full as some other dresses that are similar in style and shape.

The fabric is a shiny, soft charmeuse.

The dress is available in black, fuschia, purple, chocolate, and teal.

We have this beautiful dress in the store for you to see if it's the one for your special night.
